Why did Sri Krishna say "My devotees come to Me"?

While teaching the GITA to Arjuna, Sri Krishna was in ADVAITA state and had no desires left to be achieved and his mind, which is bundle of thoughts - Sri Ramana Maharshi, was completely merged in BRAHMAN.  And, Sri Krishna was in the state of BRAHMAN itself.

True to his state, through out the Gita never said that he was the incarnation of Lord Vishnu.

1)   Sri Krishna, while expressing his views on various issues, explained in 9th Chapter of Gita about the outcome of observing various rituals by human beings as laid down in various scriptures.

"The knowers of the three Vedas, the drinkers of Soma, purified of all sins, worshipping Me by sacrifices, pray for the way to heaven; they reach the holy world of the Lord of the gods and enjoy in heaven the divine pleasures of the gods."

2)    The state of those humans, who reached and enjoyed heaven, after exhausting their merit of good deeds, was explained as follows:

ते तं भुक्त्वा स्वर्गलोकं विशालं

क्षीणे पुण्ये मर्त्यलोकं विशन्ति।

एव त्रयीधर्ममनुप्रपन्ना

गतागतं कामकामा लभन्ते।।9.21।।

"They, having enjoyed the vast heaven, enter the world of mortals when their merit is exhausted; thus abiding by the injunctions of the three (Vedas) and desiring (objects of) desires, they attain to the state of going and returning."

Here, Sri Krishna was saying that the humans would enter into a cycle of performing the rituals, attaining heaven and coming back to Earth and again performing the rituals and going to heaven and so on.

Sri Krishna did not stop here.  He also hinted out at the permanent way out in the subsequent slokas.

यान्ति देवव्रता देवान् पितृ़न्यान्ति पितृव्रताः।

भूतानि यान्ति भूतेज्या यान्ति मद्याजिनोऽपि माम्।।9.25।।

"The worshippers of the gods go to them; to the manes go the ancestor-worshippers; to the deities who preside over the elements go their worshippers; but My devotees come to Me."

We should misunderstand  Sri Krishna when he said "My devotees come to Me" that the devotees should follow what Sri Krishna did and said.

As I indicated above, Sri Krishna was in the state of BRAHMAN itself.  So he was hinting at to seek the help of a realised soul like Sri Ramana Maharshi and who had become BRAHMAN itself and permanently get out of the vicious circle explained in 9.21.

Here, Gods means every God listed in the various texts, i.e, Vishnu, Shiva, Indra, Kaartikeya, etc.

To conclude readers may go through the book " A Search in Secret India", wherein the writer Mr. Paul Brunton narrated his own story of searching for a realised soul.  Mr. Brunton came to India and travelled the entire India during 1935-36 and finally sought the guidance of Sri Ramana Maharshi and got the realisation.
