Valmiki Ramayana
When almost all Vanaras could not dare to jump 100 Yojanas over Ocean for reaching Ravana's Lanka, Jambavanta narrates the story of Sri Hanuman as follows:
अभ्युत्थितम् ततः सूर्यम् बालो दृष्ट्वा महा वने |
फलंचेतिजिघृक्षुस्त्वमुत्प्लुत्याभ्युत्पतोदिवम् - यद्वा -
फलम् च इति जिघृक्षुः त्वम् उत्प्लुत्य अभिउत्पतो दिवम् ||
(Kishkinda Kanda 66 Sarga 21 Sloka)
(Kishkinda Kanda 66 Sarga 22 Sloka)
(Kishkinda Kanda 66 Sarga 23 Sloka)
(Kishkinda Kanda 66 Sarga 27 Sloka)
(Kishkinda Kanda 66 Sarga 28 Sloka)
According to Bṛhaddevatā, Indra, immediately on his birth, fought with Sage Vāmadeva for 10 days and nights.
The Stories or Myths that were indicated in the Bṛhaddevatā, like fight of Vāmadeva with Indra, do not find place in Rig Veda.
However, these stories are in the form of an explanation to Rig Vedic mantras, which were composed in a cryptic manner, unintelligible to a person with less inclination towards SPIRITUALITY.
The fight between Vāmadeva and Indra should be understood in a SPIRITUAL line only.
Actually there was no fight between Vāmadeva and Indra.
It was Vāmadeva , who had been in SELF REALISATION stage even in his mother's womb! It must be Indra's defeating the EGO of Vāmadeva.
And, Gautama placing (selling) him in the assembly of seers, indicates Indra presenting in the assembly of seers, as Gautama himself is Indra, in pure spiritual sense.
Vāmadeva became a REALISED one and thus had become Indra himself.
Vāmadeva's hymn, narrated in an esoteric sense, must be based on his own experience.
Here, Sage Vāmadeva is a dwija from birth itself.
---------------
dwija means twice-born.
In post-vedic period, the word dwija used to refer to a brAhmana, kshatriya and Vysya , after undergoing upanayana ceremony.
However, according to Rig Veda, dwija means A REALISED/enlightened PERSON.
-------------
Coming back to the story of Indra's hitting Sri Hanuman, while he was still a child, with his Vajra has similarity with the story of fight between Vāmadeva and Indra, as mentioned in Bṛhaddevatā.
In Ramayana, Sage Valmiki was indicating that Sri Hanuman, even while he was a child, tried to reach the SPIRITUAL HEIGHTS (flying towards the Sun).
Sun is also called Savitr (Gayatri mantra) before Sunrise.
And, Indra, being the BRAHMAN (in spiritual sense), gave him SELF REALISATION, thus making Sri Hanuman unconscious.
The boons that Brahma and Indra gave to Sri Hanuman are in fact, the Siddhis or super natural powers that he got as a result of attaining SELF REALISATION.
Thus, Sri Hanuman is a dwija at his childhood itself.
