Reasons for not allowing women inside temples during menstruation period

The purposes for which temples were created, women were advised to enter into temples during the days of menstruation, need an depth study, but not a surface scratching.

  1. Temples were created for multi-purpose activity (a) to have a an area for community discussion, (b) for providing a stage for artists to exhibit their skills, (c) to have combined devotional programmes like bhajans
  2. The God or temple will not become impure if a woman, who is menstruating, enters the temple area.
  3. God is beyond all these beliefs.
  4. It is devotees, who pray to God, and get relief  after praying.
  5. It is only for the benefit of women, who are menstruating, that they were prohibited from (a) doing any work in the house (b) attending any social functions, (c) entering temples.
  6. During menstruation, many women undergo  pains called Dysmenorrhea and sometimes, it will be excruciating.  How many men know about this fact?
  7. Many women will lose lot of blood during this period, as a result of which, deficiency of Calcium, Iron results.  That is why she was advised rest during that 3 days, for recuperation.  Normally, a woman in this condition cannot pray to God.
  8. And, during this time, due to excessive blood loses called menorrhagia, some times women will die - non-supply of oxygen to brain, if proper medication is not provided.
  9. The sanctum sanctorum of any Hindu temple will be some what congested.  Even normal people some times suffer from less oxygen available.
  10. If a woman, who is  anaemic or suffering from menorrhagia, enters the sanctum sanctorum of any Hindu temple and suffers from lack oxygen, who will be responsible for this malady?
